Carl Preller

Director of Consulting

Carl started his career in 1994 with Unilever South Africa as a Management trainee. In 4+ years with Unilever South Africa he progressively rose through a variety of Sales, Brand and Key Account Management positions ending up as National Account Manager for 2 Key National Account Customers.

In 1997 Carl joined Coca Cola Southern Africa as a National Account Manager. This role was followed by a role as Channel Development Manager, responsible for the General Trade/Spaza Channel across Southern Africa focussed on the development of channel and shopper strategy and working deeply on specific brand channel activation programs. Carl transferred to Coca Cola Great Britain in 1999 as a Channel Sector Manager for the Education and Workplace Channels.

In 2000 Carl moved into the world of Health &Beauty, taking up a role as Commercial Director for L’Oreal, Active Cosmetics (CAI) UK overseeing the Field Sales and KAM team – Carl moved to L’Oreal Headquarters, Paris, in 2002 as International Category Manager responsible for the launch of Category Management for the L’Oreal CAI Division globally and the global rollout of a new Category Strategy.

In 2003 Carl returned to London to take up a role as Director of the L’Oreal ASDA/WalMart Category Captaincy Team. During this time he led the successful launch of a Strategic Shopper Marketing initiative, the ASDA Accelerator Project. This initiative was presented as a keynote speech by L’Oreal and WalMart at the ECR Paris Convention in 2005. Carl was promoted to Director of the full Category Management team for L’Oreal UK in October 2004.

Early 2006 saw a move to Asia, initially based in Thailand before taking up a role as General Manager for Business Development based out of Hong Kong. This role was followed by a role as Commercial Development Director, L’Oreal Asia.

Carl joined Glendinning Asia Pacific in June 2007 as Director of Consulting. His consulting experience as been across a range of clients, both FMCG and Non FMCG, and he is currently sitting on the Glendinning global offer and shopper teams based out of Bangkok.

He is married to Anne-Marie with 2 lovely daughters, Anais and Arielle.
